Born in San Jose, California, David performed his undergraduate studies at Stanford University.  There he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1977.  During his senior year at Stanford, David worked full-time as a title searcher and customer service representative at California Land Title Company of Santa Clara County.  This work would prove beneficial to David on both professional and personal levels, for while he was employed at this company he gained practical experience in real estate matters, and met his future wife, Deborah.
Deciding to embark on a legal career, David enrolled at the University of San Francisco School of Law.  During his law schooling, he focused on international law and became a member of the McAuliffe Honor Society (the university’s award of recognition to its outstanding law students).  Obtaining his Juris Doctorate degree in 1981, David practiced briefly in his native San Jose; and then embarked on a legal career in Sacramento County, where he has remained since 1983.
Interested in litigation, David initially worked in the field of insurance defense, where he gained extensive experience in the areas of personal injury law, construction defect litigation, insurance coverage law, and defense of physicians and hospitals in professional negligence cases.  Embracing the challenges of litigation, he has successfully represented claimants at trial and arbitrations.  Of note is his successful defense of a $42 million claim which involved the complicated sale and purchase of customer lists belonging to a nationally-recognized telephone company.  Over time, David widened his experience by representing persons and companies in matters which included employment law, wage & hour claims, product liability, and mass tort pharmaceutical litigation, in addition to the areas of personal injury litigation and business and real estate law.
With over three decades’ experience as an attorney, David is a partner in the firm of Zarka & Janke, LLP.  David is committed to provide his clients with honest, personal service as efficiently and cost effectively as possible.  The hallmark of his life’s work, on both a personal and professional level, is guided by the Golden Rule to treat others as they would wish to be treated with fairness and respect.
David was admitted to the State Bar of California and the United States District Court for the Northern District of California in 1982; to the Eastern District in 1983; and to the Southern District in 2010.  He has been admitted pro hac vice to multiple courts across the United States, most recently to the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri.

David lives with his wife, Deborah.  Together they have two grown daughters, Elaina and Ana, and a granddaughter, Brielle.  David enjoys a wide variety of music, film, and theater as is demonstrated by his role as the current President of Imagination Theater, a non-profit organization presenting to El Dorado County and surrounding communities award-winning performances in an atmosphere of trust, growth, personal respect, and challenge.   
David’s commitment to do good for others does not stop at his professional door.  For several years, he has been a Knight of Columbus and a choir member at his church in El Dorado Hills.  Additionally, he is a past vice-president and a former Director of the Divine Mercy Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to raising funds and establishing educational programs for students in Sacramento and the Philippines.  In June, 2010, David was inducted as a Knight of Magistral Grace with the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, an international lay religious order founded in the middle of the 11th Century which performs medical and humanitarian activities in over 120 countries world-wide.

Tyler has worked in Family Law, property law and Estate Planning. During this time, he has litigated numerous cases involving all aspects of divorce, custody, support, division of property and separation.

Tyler began his career outside of law by working as a mechanical engineer followed by 12 years in the finance industry working as a trading specialist researching and preparing firms for trade disputes and mediation. Tyler has used his years of detailed work experience in pressure filled environments to better suit the demands of his clients regarding court hearings, trials and mediation by shielding his client's from stress.
